User Voice and Shaping Our Lives

2015

In January 2015, Shaping Our Lives collaborated with User Voice on a research report for a grant-making trust exploring best practices for service user involvement at a funding level. This research involved a significant number of user-led organisations and people who have experience of multiple disadvantages, including: people at risk of violence and abuse, people at risk of drug misuse, people at risk of or experiencing homelessness, and people with experience of the penal system. The project investigated the barriers that these groups encountered when trying to secure funding and the challenges they faced when running projects designed to facilitate systematic changes, and also explored how to meaningfully involve service users in funding processes.
